Description

We are looking for a talented Legal Counsel - Commercial to join our legal team in London, United Kingdom.  

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Lead Legal Support: Provide comprehensive legal support for the electrolyzer business segment globally, ensuring alignment with business goals and legal standards. 
  • Transactional and Compliance Expertise: Advise on a wide range of legal responsibilities, focusing on Europe but also collaborating with in-house counsel in other regions. 
  • Contract Negotiation: Skillfully negotiate project and EPC contracts with customers, using industry-standard forms and customer templates where appropriate. 
  • Project Management: Manage projects and legal matters with limited supervision, demonstrating sound and independent judgment. 
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a trusted advisor to mid- to high-level management, partnering with internal stakeholders to identify improvements and provide practical legal advice. 
  • Legal Strategy Development: Assist in developing legal strategies that align with business objectives and contribute to the overall goals of the organization. 
  • Risk Management: Identify, mitigate, and manage legal risks, ensuring compliance and protecting the company's interests. 
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide support and leadership in legal department projects, and potentially supervise and mentor junior lawyers, paralegals, or administrative assistants. 

This role may require up to 10% domestic and international travel frequency. 



Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:  

  • Strong Legal and Project Management Skills: Experience in reviewing and negotiating commercial project agreements, including EPC contracts, and managing projects with limited supervision. 
  • Critical Thinking and Business Acumen: Ability to make well-reasoned decisions, think strategically and innovatively, and understand the business implications of legal advice. 
  • Effective Communication and Collaboration: Excellent skills in building relationships and working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders across various disciplines and cultures. 
  • Adaptability and Integrity: Willingness to handle a wide range of legal issues, manage risks, and demonstrate strong personal and professional integrity and business ethics. 


Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • Minimum 2:1 Undergraduate law degree (or equivalent).
  • Legal Practice Certificate (U.K. only) / License to practice in other jurisdiction. 
  • Registered with relevant Law Society/legal regulatory body.
  • License to practice law in home jurisdiction.
  • Significant experience of substantive projects law practice either in-house with a corporation or in private practice. Ideally upwards of 5 years' experience but candidates outside of these parameters with the necessary skills are welcome to apply. 
  • A mix of in-house and private practice preferred but not required.
  • Strong English language essential and German or Spanish language skills and/or experience of working across multiple European jurisdictions would also be an advantage.
